Intro to Users Module
In this tutorial, we’ll introduce you to the Users and Me Modules.
These modules give you the essential tools to manage access and permissions for all types of users, including administrators, students, instructors, and anyone else with access to the system.
The Users Module is highly customizable, allowing you to assign specific Privileges to different Roles. This means you can tailor each Role so that users can only perform actions, permitted (in advance) by the administrator.
The “Me” Module only allows users to see their own information. On the other hand, the Users Module will allow a user to access other users’ information and depending on their Roles and Privileges, be able to add and edit that information. This option should be reserved for administrative roles.
Grid and Table Views (0:53)
IIt is possible to view the users list in two different ways.
1. The “grid” view, which displays a larger profile image and user’s name.
2. The “Table” view, allowing you to see users in a table layout with more information visible.
Change views the by clicking the “Grid/Table View” button in the right-hand corner of the User Module.
The Users Module tabs, explained: (1:16)
The Users Module enables users to register and log in to their accounts, offering access to Private-Radar. This integration links key content, such as personal agendas, certificates, courses, logbooks, and more, to their accounts.
The Users Module consolidates all necessary features in one convenient location. Let’s take a closer look.
Agenda (1:44)
Users can quickly view their flight and ground bookings in the Agenda tab and synchronize this, with their own external personal calendars.
Certificates (1:54)
Keep track of users' certificates and validity, get notifications when certificates will expire, have already expired, or are missing. Define required certificates and always be up-to-date.
Courses (2:09)
Individual student course progress is tracked in this tab for each phase with all the flights, lessons, evaluations, ground lessons, and attendance recorded.
You can print a PDF, export to Excel, and generate “hours certificates”. Get a quick view of pending, failed, and completed exercises with easy-to-read graphs and charts.
Signatures (2:34)
Users (students and instructors in this case) can upload their signatures and can easily sign flight sessions and class attendance sheets.
Logbook (2:44)
Here it is possible to view and download a users' Logbook, as well as reverse the Logbook viewing order.
Account (2:53)
Keep track of debit, credit, and balance for each of your users. Add invoices and payments. You can enable online payments and transfers between users' accounts.
Flight /Duty Time (3:05)
Track your flight times and duty times.
Documents (3:11)
Upload and archive flight documents and other documents in your user account.
Solo (3:17)
Assign specific aircraft types for each user that they are permitted to reserve for solo flights, provided they adhere to the flying standards defined in the Settings. If no aircraft type is selected, the user will be authorized to reserve solo flights on any available aircraft.
Availability (3:35)
Sync user availability with the Schedule Module. Any "not available" times will be displayed in gray on the schedule.
Emails (3:45)
Maintain a record of all emails received by the user from Private-Radar.
Currency (3:51)
Automatically track the number of landings, both solo and with a passenger, for each aircraft type.
Memos (3:59)
Keep a record of all memos. Here, you can view all open and closed memos related to a specific user.
ROLES AND PRIVILEGES (4:08)
You can define which users will view the Users and/or the Me Module by managing the Roles and Privileges. Just follow the next steps:
1. As the admin of the account, go to the Users Module.
2. Click on the Roles and Privileges “shield” button in the top right-hand corner of the page.
3. Select a role from the drop-down list at the top of the window.
4. Select the Users tab.
5. Check the “View Users Module” box.
6. Now go to Users List and define if you want to allow the role to “View self”, “View all users”, or “View these groups”.
By selecting “View self”, users will only see themselves, therefore they will only have access to the Me Module, not the Users Module.
A role that has been given the privilege to "View all users" or "view these groups" will have access to both the Me and the Users Module. A user will see their information in the Me section and other’s information in the Users Module. The amount of viewable information can be defined in the Roles and Privileges window.
7. Make sure to pay close attention to the other details in the Roles and Privileges for the Users module.
8. Click close to save.
